The future of visible light photoinitiators of polymerization for photocrosslinking applications

Photopolymerization under visible light is an active research field whose intense activity supported by the recent advances in 3D and 4D printing. Within this perspective article, emerging trends photopolymerization for photocrosslinking applications will be presented. Notably, performant multicomponent photoinitiating systems extensively used past are now progressively discarded favor of mono-component easier to handle. The reduction side-products formed during polymerization, oxygen inhibition, formation dyes intermolecular charge transfer interactions or development more ecological polymerization processes using sunlight as irradiation source have recently been focus efforts. Furthermore, favoring elongation polymer lifetime such self-healing presented article aims at presenting most breakthroughs these attempts. To end, future vision discussed.
